| In my work, I orchestrate the shape, size, color and placement of clear glass together, creating a balanced piece of sculpture that interacts with the viewers eye in surprising ways. The first part of the process involves carefully removing the surface by grinding the glass away using centuries-old cold-working techniques that are virtually unheard of today. These techniques allow me to create optical lenses and channels that refract both light and color for a visual experience unlike other modern glass sculpture.
Finally, I cradle the sculpted piece of glass in a solid, stainless steel base that Ive custom-fabricated to fit that specific piece of glass. This creates a seamless, clean and finished piece of sculpture that is a pleasure to view from all angles.
